INDUSTRIAL POWDER COATING
Durable, high-performance powder coating for manufacturers, fabricators, and commercial customers throughout Western Washington.
WHY POWDER COATING
A SUPERIOR FINISH FOR INDUSTRIAL METAL
Powder coating is a widely used finishing method for industrial and commercial metal parts. Applied electrostatically as a dry powder and cured under heat, it typically produces a harder, more impact-resistant finish than conventional liquid paint — though actual performance depends on the powder chemistry, substrate, and application environment.
At Apex Powder Coating, we process parts up to 30 feet long. Surface preparation and coating system selection depend on your material, part geometry, size, and specifications — we'll discuss the right approach when you contact us for a quote.
Note: Our five-stage zirconization pretreatment line handles parts up to 9'8" long × 30" wide. Larger parts or heavily corroded steel are prepared by sandblasting. Some projects may require both processes. Contact us to confirm what's appropriate for your job.
- Generally thicker and harder than conventional liquid paint — actual film build depends on the powder product and application
- No liquid carrier means no runs, drips, or sags during application
- Resistant to chipping, scratching, and UV fading — performance varies by chemistry and environment
- No VOC emissions during application
- Available in a wide range of colors and finishes
- Suitable for steel, aluminum, and other metals — substrate compatibility should be confirmed for your application
- Long service life in many industrial and outdoor environments — contact us to discuss your specific exposure conditions

HOW IT WORKS
OUR POWDER COATING PROCESS
Surface Inspection
Every part is inspected for contamination, rust, mill scale, and surface defects before processing begins. The appropriate preparation method is determined based on the part's material, geometry, and coating requirements.
Surface Preparation
Preparation method depends on the part. Parts that fit within our tank dimensions go through the five-stage zirconization line. Larger parts, heavily corroded steel, or parts with existing coatings are sandblasted in our dedicated blast room. Some parts may require both. We'll confirm the right approach for your project.
Powder Application
Electrostatically charged powder is applied to the prepared surface. Coverage quality depends on part geometry, grounding, and the coating system used. Complex geometries, deep recesses, or tightly nested assemblies may require discussion before quoting.
Curing Oven
Parts are cured in our industrial ovens at controlled temperatures appropriate for the powder chemistry and substrate. Cure time and temperature vary by product specification.
Quality Inspection
Finished parts are inspected for coverage and finish quality before release. Specific inspection criteria (film thickness measurement, adhesion testing, etc.) can be discussed for projects with formal quality requirements.
